Happy Merdeka Day!
Anyway, Happy Merdeka Day everyone. Hopefully the sense of patriotism in us still strong. Patriotism is not equal to only flying Jalur Gemilang. Trying to work hard to elevate our life is also a patriotic duty. Work hard and not to accept any bribe is also a patriotic duty. Saving money for our future is also a patriotic duty.
Once again Happy Merdeka Day from me and family.
It's my life
Shopping
I got my salary yesterday. Because I'm on leave, I and wife go to Queensbay Mall (after this will be known as Queensbay) to buy some clothes for me, wife and our son. The day before yesterday we went to Tesco to buy some essential supplies for our home. We didn't buy any fresh item because me and wife are lazy to cook lately. So, back to my story.
We went there around 3 p.m. At first I wanted to park at the 'unfinished parking lot' outside of Queensbay but then decided to try the inside parking. The parking is okay but a bit confusing at first. Maybe because that was my first time. Maybe because of the school holiday we can only parked at level 5 (the other level were full). Then we took an elevator and go to level G. We were hungry by the time we arrived at Queensbay so we decided to eat first and shop later. We went to Sushi King restaurant at the LG level and eat at there. We eat quite a lot yesterday. I took 3 eel sushi and 1 Kanikama while my wife took 1 ebi ten, and 3 other thing that I forgot the name. We also ordered 1 chawan mushi, 1 strawberry and 1 blueberry drinks. Because the drink too sweet, I order 1 green tea but the waiters keep refill it. We stay at the outlets from 3.30 to 4.30. Hehehe..We try to enjoy our food actually.
After eating, we went to J-Card counter. I apply for J-Card there. Then we went to shop Danial's clothes. We bought 4 pair of clothes for Danial while I bought 1 shirt and 1 t-shirt for me. After calculation, I think I've got > 300 points for my J-Card. Then we went to Toys R Us outlet. Bought something for Danial. We went back around 6.30 p.m.
The cluster
Got a call from Syahril told me some bad news about the cluster. Lots of things were not working at the cluster. Because I don't know what happened, I just wait until today. After I take a look at the configuration, the drivers for ethernet adapters were wrongly configured. So, I deleted all the drivers and restart the operating system (maybe Hussein know a much simpler step but the step that I know is not working). The operating system re-detect the drivers and configured them. Because most of the cluster configurations are in mysql database, I re-written the network configuration files using dbreport tool. Anyway, the cluster is up and running around 1 p.m. There were a few more things need to be done on the cluster. Maybe I will do it on this weekend.
The server
Still not finished configuring HP Integrity RX2660. Windows 2003 can't detect the hard disk and all the drivers that I've downloaded from HP website are not working with the OS. I think I want to format the hard disk using Linux OS. After that, I installed Windows. Hopefully after that, Windows 2003 can detect the hard disk. I know its a long way to do but since Windows 2003 are stupid enough not to detect the hard disk, so, I need to do it this way. I hope it can work.
That's all for today. Nothing interesting and not a single picture. Maybe later folks.
Random Musing - 2
Sekarang nih dah dekat nak Merdeka dan dah makin ramai orang kibarkan Jalur Gemilang kat merata-rata. Kat rumah, kat keta, kat pejabat. Merata-rata tempat ada Jalur Gemilang. Tapi aku still tak letak pun Jalur Gemilang kat keta aku. Bukan sebab tak patriotik pun cuma nape ntah. Kemalasan tahap cipan. So, wat pe aku nak kibar secara fizikal. Tul tak?
Lagipun wat pe aku nak kayakan tokey2 yg dah kaya tuh. Lagipun duit aku spend utk perbelanjaan keluarga. Tak de pun wat utk menda2 tak berfaedah. Kadang-kadang aku tengok orang yg kibarkan bendera nih pun bukannya patriotik sgt. Bendera terkibar kat kenderaan masing2 tapi masih lagi langgar undang-undang (langgar lampu isyarat, potong waktu double lane, pastu tak hormat orang waktu kat atas jalan). Patriotik ke namanya? Kibarkan bendera kat kediaman atau ofis masing2 tapi masih lagi buang sampah dari jendela kediaman masing2. Adakah patriotik namanya? Punyalah datang utk tengok perbarisan waktu hari kemerdekaan tapi lepas tu buang sampah merata-rata. Patriotik ke namanya? Semangat patriotik bererti kita sayangkan negara kita. Apabila kita sayangkan negara kita, kita sayangkan apa sahaja menda yang ada dlm negara kita nih.
Mari kita tengok contoh mat-mat rempit. Apa yg mat-mat rempit buat? Berlumba atas jalan raya. Pastu mampus kena langgar nyusahkan orang je. Nyusahkan orang nak kuarkan dari tersepit bawah lori. Nyusahkan doktor-doktor untuk jahit balik. Nyusahkan mak bapak (penat mak bapak kuar duit utk bayar pengajian, last2 mati katak sebab berlumba).
So, apakah perlu kita kibarkan Jalur Gemilang?
So, lagi seminggu lebih sebelum merdeka. Anyway, selamat menyambut hari kemerdekaan Malaya ke 50. Dan bulan 9 nanti kita akan menyambut Hari Kebangsaan Malaysia ke 44.

The same date and time. See that the client is denied by the server. What's the heck is the configuration you may ask. Afraid not my young padawan. It is the httpd configuration. But is it? I spend 10 minutes reading httpd.conf until I read the last line.
include conf.d/rocks.conf
So, the httpd get another set of configuration from conf.d. So, lets see what are the files in conf.d.
-r--r--r-- 1 root root 361 Aug 15 21:51 411.conf
-r--r--r-- 1 root root 1417 Aug 15 21:52 central.conf
-r--r--r-- 1 root root 446 Aug 15 21:52 myadmin.conf
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 448 Sep 21 2006 php.conf
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 Jun 27 09:07 RCS
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 392 Aug 13 2006 README
-r--r--r-- 1 root root 774 Aug 15 21:50 rocks.conf
-r--r--r-- 1 root root 268 Jun 27 09:06 rocks-wordpress.conf
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 10919 Aug 13 2006 ssl.conf
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 299 Aug 13 2006 welcome.conf
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 138 Sep 25 2006 wordpress.conf
You need to change central.conf, myadmin.conf and rocks.conf. Compare your private IP with the configuration file. Make sure the IP in the files is your private IP not your public IP. Try to retrieve the image again. I'm sure you will successfully retrieve the image.
Try it my young padawan. May the force be with you!
Do you really need a tourism university?
PENANG: A tourism university is being planned at Balik Pulau to provide skilled workforce to meet the growth of the country's tourism industry as well as boost development of the Northern Corridor Economic Region.
Finance Ministry parliamentary secretary Datuk Seri Dr Hilmi Yahaya said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi had approved the project and an announcement on the matter would be made soon.
“The university will be built to train the workforce needed in the tourism industry in our efforts to provide quality service to tourists.
“It will offer courses related to the travel industry like hotel and catering, service and transportation,'' he told reporters after the opening of the Balik Pulau Umno divisional delegates meeting yesterday.
Why the Government need to built a new university dedicated for tourism? Last time I check, UITM offered the course for students. If the Government really think the courses offered by UITM is low standard, the Government should provide more fund for UITM to upgrade the courses by hiring more professional lecturers and people who really know the industry well.
I'm not against building up a new university in Malaysia. But by adding new university, the Government need to add more fund or the current fund for universities will stretch to its limit. The cost for building up a new university is not RM 1 million but cost up to hundreds sometimes thousands million of ringgit. Why need to waste that much money in creating a new university? Why don't the government upgrade the existing ones?
Please, there are many Malaysian out there live below poverty line. At least can we cater about them for a while before building a university dedicated for tourism? And by having lots of universities will not make us a developed nation. Its the quality that really matters not quantity.
Canceling credit card from certain bank
Imagine, I owed to BSN RM463 and they accepted the date when I will settle the bill. The car payment also they accept my payment schedule. And TMNet offered me some rebate because I always pay earlier (only that month I can't pay earlier and the next bill the give me some rebate). I always settled my bill sooner or later. I admit its my mistake (because of the late payment) but since I already pay RM 3,500 lump sum, didn't they care to deduct the interest from my card. At least do something. Their credit card has least benefit than other banks. At least put something to interest other people to use.
Rocks Cluster : Editing Network Configurations
In Rocks, the configuration is store in configuration files and mysql database. So, how to edit the network configuration?
First, login into your mysql console.
$ mysql -u root -p
Enter password :
Enter your root password for the machine. For example, if you use 'abcd1234' (don't use this password, it is a weakest password), put in 'abcd1234'.
You can view current databases available in your server.
mysql> show databases;
+-----------+
| Database |
+-----------+
| cluster |
| mysql |
| test |
| wordpress |
+-----------+
4 rows in set (0.00 sec)
You can ignore mysql, test and wordpress unless you want to do something on the 3 databases. For now, we will concentrate on cluster database.
mysql> use cluster;
Database changed
You can use show tables command on the console to list all the tables available in the cluster database. But for now, I will concentrate on network table.
mysql> select * from networks;
+----+------+-------------------+-------------+---------------+---------------+
| ID | Node | MAC | IP | Netmask | Gateway | Name | Device | Module | Options | Comment |
+----+------+-------------------+-------------+---------------+---------------+
| 1 | 1 | theMac1| 192.168.1.3 | 255.255.255.0 | 192.168.1.254 | yourhost.yourdomain | eth0 | 3c59x | NULL | NULL |
| 2 | 1 | theMac2 | 192.168.0.1 | 255.255.255.0 | NULL | yourhost | eth1 | tg3 | NULL | NULL |
+----+------+-------------------+-------------+---------------+---------------+
2 rows in set (0.00 sec)
As you can see from the list, most of the network configuration is in the database. So, let say if you want to change the IP address from local into public IP use by your organization. And lets say the device that will bear the changes fall into eth0. So, do this sql statement.
mysql> update networks set ip='into.your.org.ip' where device='eth0';
Exit from mysql. Then execute this statement.
$ dbreport ifcfg eth0 yourhostname >> /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0
Restart your network or reboot your system to make sure the changes took effect.
This article is a part to help me in building the cluster and prevent me from digging into the Rocks mailing list. ;)
